The frontman for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was born in Gainesville, Florida on October 20 1950. He formed the Heartbreakers in 1976 and has since released 10 studio albums with the band, as well as three solo albums and two with the supergroup The Traveling Wilburys. |

Petty’s ever popular “Free Falling”:
Petty has spent this summer touring and promoting his latest album “Mojo” and putting the finishing touches on what looks to be an exciting deluxe release of his classic album “Damn the Torpedoes.” The deluxe edition will include the original album remastered, and nine extra tracks, including the following seven previously unreleased titles:
- “Nowhere” and “Surrender”, which are studio tracks from the original “Damn The Torpedoes” sessions
- the original demo for the B-side “Casa Dega”
- an alternate take of “Refugee”
- live versions of “Shadow Of A Doubt (A Complex Kid)”, “Don’t Do Me Like That” and “Somethin’ Else” from London’s Hammersmith Odeon (March 6, 1980).
The set will also feature liner notes by rock journalist/author David Fricke, rare photos, and lyrics to each track.
“Deluxe the Torpedoes deluxe edition” is available on November 9. You can buy it on 2 CDs, as an audio Blu-ray disc or on vinyl. A single disc edition of the remastered album will also be released.
