The return of the Old Grey Whistle Test

The BBC will mark the 40th anniversary of “The Old Grey Whistle Test” with a series of shows on Radio 2 next month.
“Whispering” Bob Harris hosted the television show from 1972 to 1978 and he will return to host the 16-part “Old Grey Whistle Test 40” radio series. Harris has called the reunion a “heartwarming and exciting experience.” |
“Old Grey Whistle Test 40” will feature new and archive performances from artists who appeared on the original Whistle Test, including Sir Elton John, Robert Plant, Paul Weller, Roger Daltrey, Mark Knopfler, Yusuf Islam, Emmylou Harris and Simple Minds.
Bob Harris was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List last month.
