“The Dave Clark Five and Beyond – Glad All Over” – Two-hour special

Great Performances is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the British invasion with the documentary “The Dave Clark Five and Beyond – Glad All Over”. The two-hour special will air on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 8 p.m. and Friday, April 11 at 10 p.m. on PBS.

The film tells the DC5’s story from their working class roots in war-torn England through to their rise to worldwide fame, which saw them achieve 15 consecutive Top 20 U.S. hit singles and sell more than 100 million records.

Included in the film are the DC5’s iconic performances on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” as well as rare live footage and unseen material from Dave Clark’s personal archives. There are also performances by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Dusty Springfield, Stevie Wonder, the Supremes, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, and Freddie Mercury.

The subject of the 1960s cultural revolution is tackled via newly filmed interviews with Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Van Zandt of The E Street Band, Stevie Wonder, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Gene Simmons, Tom Hanks, Whoopi Goldberg, Dionne Warwick, Twiggy and Sir Ian McKellen.

“The Dave Clark Five and Beyond – Glad All Over” is a production of Dave Clark International and THIRTEEN Productions LLC in association with WNET. The film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray by PBS Home Video in conjunction with the broadcast.
