The Clash will receive an award for their Outstanding Contribution to UK Music at the 38th annual Silver Clef Awards.

Previous recipients of the award have included the Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Queen, M People and Dido.

The Silver Clef Awards raise funds for the music therapy charity Nordoff-Robbins. David Munns, chairman of the charity, said:

“The Clash’s music has just as much influence today as it did when they first came onto the music scene in 1976. It is no wonder London Calling has been described as one of the most influential rock albums of all time… Having been enormously influential in the UK music scene for over 35 years, I can think of no band more deserving of this award than The Clash.”

Other winners at the ceremony will include Barry Gibb (Sony Mobile Lifetime Achievement Award), Ray Davies (Hard Rock Cafe Ambassador of Rock Award), Vampire Weekend (the Raymond Veil International Award), Coldplay (the Royal Albert Hall Best British Act Award), Jessie Ware (MusicQubed Best Newcomer Award), and Labrinth (American Express Innovation Award).

The Silver Clef Awards take place at the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane on June 28.
