The Michael Jackson Estate and Cirque du Soleil have announced that the music of Michael Jackson will feature in a touring show next year. “Michael Jackson – The Immortal World Tour” opens in October 2011 in Montreal, Canada, before visiting a number of North American cities on the first leg of the tour.

The news release describes “Michael Jackson – The Immortal World Tour” as “A riveting fusion of visuals, dance, music and fantasy that immerses audiences in Michael’s creative world and literally turns his signature moves upside down.” The show will be written and directed by James King, who has directed some of the most popular music videos and concert tours of all time, working with artists such as Madonna, Prince and Michael Jackson.

Cirque du Soleil have already produced successful shows based around the music of The Beatles (“Beatles Love”) and Elvis Presley (“Viva Elvis”), both of which are still running in Las Vegas. The soundtrack to “Viva Elvis” will be released next week.
