Mary J Blige to star as Nina Simone

Mary J. Blige will play Nina Simone in a film based on the late singer’s life.
“Nina” has been written by Cynthia Mort and will focus on Simone’s relationship with her assistant Clifton Henderson. “The Last King of Scotland” star, David Oyelowo, will take on the role of Henderson. |
Blige is best known for her musical accomplishments. She released her debut album, “What’s the 411?,” in 1992 and has since been awarded nine Grammy awards. “Nina” will be the first substantial acting role for the 39-year-old. Up until now, her acting has been restricted to cameos in several films and tv shows.
Nina Simone died in 2003 aged 70. Here’s “Feelin’ Good.”
