Lifetime achievement awards for Don McLean and The Dubliners

Don McLean and The Dubliners will receive lifetime achievement awards at the 13th annual BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards on February 8. The show will be broadcast live on Radio 2 from The Lowry in Salford and will also be viewable on television via the BBC’s Red Button.
A 3-CD box set featuring the Award show nominees is scheduled for release on February 6. |
Don McLean is an American singer-songwriter best known for his classic hits “American Pie” and “Vincent (Starry Starry Night)”. He has released over 40 gold and platinum records world-wide since 1971 and remains a popular touring artist, including an appearance at last year’s Glastonbury Festival. McLean has welcomed the lifetime achievement award:

The Dubliners are one of Ireland’s most recognisable folk groups. They celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2012. Don McLean and The Dubliners will both perform live during the awards show.
