The “History of the Eagles: Part One” documentary will premiere on January 19, 2013 at the Acura-sponsored Sundance Film Festival, which takes place in Park City, Utah.

The premiere will be followed by a Q&A session with producer Alex Gibney and director Alison Ellwood.

Prior to the film’s premiere at the Eccles Theater, the Eagles (Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit) will make a special appearance at the “Acura Studio” in Park City to autograph a signature acoustic guitar and kick off a charity auction.

“History of the Eagles: Part One” explores the Eagles’ creation and rise to fame in the 1970s through their breakup in 1980, making use of 25 new interviews, unreleased home movies and archive footage, including a rare 1977 concert film from the Hotel California tour.

Glenn Frey of the Eagles says:

“For the last 5 years, and intensely this past year, we have been putting together this documentary of our history with Alex and Alison, who have contributed their extraordinary talents to help us tell our story. We’re all very pleased with the progress so far, and are excited to see the finished product at Sundance.”

Other Sundance premieres will include Dave Grohl’s “Sound City,” which tells the story of the Sound City recording studio, promising to “explore the human element of music, and the lost art of analog recording in an increasingly digital world”.
