Visitors to Elvis Presley’s Graceland mansion in 2013 will be able to enjoy new exhibits that explore Elvis’ associations with Hawaii and Las Vegas.

Elvis’ Hawaii: Concerts, Movies and More!

The “Elvis’ Hawaii: Concerts, Movies and More!” exhibit opens on January 8 in conjunction with the Elvis 2013 Birthday Celebration. The launch also coincides with the 40th anniversary of the worldwide “Aloha From Hawaii” television special, and will feature the American Eagle jumpsuits worn in the rehearsal and main show.

Other exciting artifacts that will be on display include the gold lamé jacket he wore in his first Hawaiian concert in 1957, memorabilia from the “Blue Hawaii” and “Paradise, Hawaiian-Style” movies, and never-before-seen footage of Elvis’ first Hawaiian concert from the Graceland archives.

Elvis: Live from Vegas

The “Elvis: Live from Vegas” exhibit, which opens on March 1, will explore Elvis’ long association with Las Vegas, from his 1956 debut at the New Frontier Hotel, through to his live return at the International in 1969 and beyond.

Among the artifacts on display will be the 30-foot marquee that stood outside the New Frontier Hotel in 1956, and a number of popular jumpsuits that Elvis wore on stage in the 1970s, including the leather and chains jumpsuit worn in 1970, and the three-piece Spanish Flower suit worn in 1972.

The “Elvis… Through His Daughter’s Eyes” exhibit will remain open for another year at Graceland, with a number of new artifacts added, including the outfit that Lisa Marie Presley wore while performing at the Grand Ole Opry in 2012.
