Elton John has checked into Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, suffering from a serious respiratory infection.

TMZ has reported that doctors have ordered John to cancel several of his Las Vegas shows, and told him that he will need antibiotic treatment and rest.

Elton John told TMZ:

Elton is scheduled to begin a European tour on June 1 in Wetzlar, Germany. At this stage, there are no plans to cancel the start of the tour. He will be back in North America in September.
