Dion DiMucci to receive NIAF honour

Dion DiMucci The “National Italian American Foundation” (NIAF) is honouring legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Dion DiMucci, at their annual Gala in Washington D.C. NIAF is a non-profit, non-partisan educational foundation that promotes Italian American culture and heritage.

NIAF’s 36th Anniversary Gala Convention Weekend takes place from October 28-29 at The Washington Hilton. It promises to be “the premier event of the year for celebrating Italian American heritage and all things Italian.”

Dion shared the news with his Facebook fans, noting “My Grand Parents would be very Proud of me.”

Dion rose to fame with his group Dion and the Belmonts in 1958 and had a string of classic hits with the group and as a solo performer, including “I Wonder Why,” “Teenager in love,” “The Wanderer,” “Runaround Sue,” “Ruby Baby” and “Abraham, Martin & John.” Dion celebrated 50 years in the business in 2008 with the release of the album “Heroes: Giants of Early Guitar Rock.”
