An exhibition celebrating the visual impact of David Bowie’s poster campaigns between the years 1969 and 1981 opens in London next month.

The “David Bowie: Golden Years – 1968-81” exhibition features an array of rare and collectable posters and displays, including the first viewing in 30 years of the original Heddon Street K. West sign from the front cover of “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” album.

From Ziggy up to the beginning of the 80s, Bowie’s musical and visual creativity carried over to his record sleeves and posters, entering into collaborations with highly talented designers and photographers. The exhibition highlights some of the most interesting and iconic work from this period with images created for Bowie by Brian Duffy, Edward Bell, Masayoshi Sukita, Guy Peellaert, Steve Shapiro, Eric Stephen Jacobs and others.

The exhibition will also provide visitors with the opportunity to purchase classic vintage posters and photos.

“David Bowie: Golden Years – 1968-81” opens on Saturday, November 17 and runs until Saturday, December 1. It will be open Monday-Friday 11-6, and Saturday 11-4. There will be no charge for admission.

The exhibition will be located at the Movie Poster Art Gallery, 1 Colville Place, London W1T 2BG.
