Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger and Herbie Hancock elected to American Academy of Arts & Sciences

The three musicians join 198 new members from diverse fields, including public affairs, medicine, business, and philanthropy.
The other new members in the performing arts category are actors Robert De Niro and Sally Field, opera singer Renée Fleming, clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, and filmmakers Albert Maysles and Jonas Mekas.
The American Academy of Arts & Sciences Class of 2013 will be inducted at a ceremony at the Academy’s headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts on October 12.
