The Supremes’ smash hit “You Can’t Hurry Love” is Song of the Week on Classic Pop Icons.

“You Can’t Hurry Love” was released on single in July 1966, backed with “Put Yourself in My Place”. It also featured on the album “The Supremes A’ Go-Go,” which was released the following month.

“Going Back” features covers of some of the finest Motown and soul hits of the 1960s by artists such as The Tempations, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas.

Live Aid – 25th anniversary

Today is the 25th anniversary of the Live Aid charity show which was broadcast live around the world from Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia.

Although there were some high profile “no shows,” including many stars who had appeared on the USA for Africa “We Are The World” single, many of the biggest performers of the day were assembled for Live Aid, including Phil Collins (who famously played both gigs), U2, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Bryan Adams, Queen, Duran Duran, Madonna, Elton John, Simple Minds, The Who, The Pretenders and many more.
