Limited edition “Faces – 1969-75” book out next week

Next week sees the US debut of a limited edition book on British rock band The Faces.

“Faces – 1969-75” features original text by Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones, and over 200 photographs sourced from renowned rock and roll photographers from all over the world, as well as the band’s own personal archives.

“The Rolling Stones: 50” delves into the archives of the UK’s Daily Mirror newspaper to explore the band’s 50-year history.

“That’s Alright, Elvis” – Scotty Moore memoir on Kindle

The excellent out-of-print “That’s Alright, Elvis: The Untold Story of Elvis’s First Guitarist and Manager, Scotty Moore” has been made available on Kindle by author James L. Dickerson.

The 1997 book is Scotty’s account (as told to Dickerson) of his long career, including his time playing guitar for Elvis Presley. The guitarist first encountered Elvis in 1954 when Sun Records’ producer Sam Phillips asked him and bass player Bill Black to rehearse with the then unknown teenager. The trio swiftly struck gold with the brilliant single “That’s All Right” which is regarded as one of the most important recordings in rock ‘n’ roll history.

Neil Young writing memoir

Neil Young has announced that he is writing a memoir titled “Waging Heavy Peace.” The book will be published by Blue Rider Press in autumn 2012.

Commenting on the writing process, Young said:

“I felt like writing books fit me like a glove. I started and I just kept going. That’s the way my Daddy used to do it on his old Underwood up in the attic. He said, ‘Just keep writing, you never know what will turn up.'”
