McCartney’s soundtrack to “The Family Way” gets CD reissue
Written by admin on May 3, 2011 – 6:07 pm -Paul McCartney’s first non-Beatles music project, the soundtrack to the film “The Family Way,” will be reissued on CD in July. This is the first time the album has been issued on CD in its original form. The 1996 release didn’t observe the original running order and featured additional tracks from Canadian guitarist Carl Aubut.
Released in January, 1967, “The Family Way” was the first non-Beatles music released by any Beatle, although it is not officially designated as such because it was attributed to the George Martin Orchestra at the time. Nevertheless, McCartney wrote the songs and contibuted vocals, bass and piano work.
“The Family Way” soundtrack picked up an Ivor Novello Award in 1967.

The producers of the 2011 “The Family Way” reissue have gone back to the original mono master tapes and will present the 13 compositions in their original running order, as well as an unreleased stereo mix of “A Theme from The Family Way,” which was the B-side of a single by the Tudor Minstrels.
With this title and the ongoing releases under the Paul McCartney Archive Collection project, this is turning into a busy and pricey period for McCartney completists.
“The Family Way” is due for release on July 26.
