Spike Lee to release Michael Jackson “Bad” documentary

Spike Lee is finishing up post-production work on a documentary about the making of Michael Jackson’s “Bad” album.

The film will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the album and the world tour that followed it.

Among those interviewed for the film were Sheryl Crow, who was a backing singer on the “Bad” tour, Cee Lo Green, Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Martin Scorsese, and many friends of the late star.

Spike Lee says:

“I’m more than just a huge fan of Michael Jackson, and having the chance to actually know him and work with him, I deeply care about his legacy. With this Bad project I was able to uncover just what made this such a huge, important coming of age in his career and unearth compelling stories surrounding the making of the album, the long awaited follow-up to Thriller — the best-selling album of all time — the short films and the tour that may have never seen the light of day.”

Michael Jackson Bad 25 deluxe edition Fans of the album will also be treated to a deluxe “Bad 25” edition in September, comprising three CDs and a DVD featuring the July 16, 1988 show from London’s Wembley Stadium. The footage is taken from Michael Jackson’s personal VHS copy of the performance as shown on the JumboTrons during the concert.

CD 1 features the original re-mastered album, CD 2 has demos and remixes, and CD 3 presents the audio of the July 16 Wembley show.
