British music showcased at the London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony

The London 2012 Olympics ended with an inspiring and entertaining closing ceremony last night.

The 80,000 strong crowd was treated to a procession by the Olympians who had made the last 16 days so successful, and performances from the great and good of British pop, including Madness, the Kaiser Chiefs, Jessie J, Take That, Ray Davies, and The Who.

“Music is GREAT” charity DVD celebrates British music

A DVD compilation featuring some of the most iconic British live music acts will be released next week to kick-off the Music is GREAT Week. Profits will go to Save the Children.

Music is GREAT Week is a seven-day celebration of British music. The DVD includes live performances from 1973 to 2011 from some of the biggest names in British music, including David Bowie, The Who, Queen, Blur, Robbie Williams and Adele. Here’s the full line-up: Read more »

Song of the Week #87 – “How Deep Is Your Love”

The Bee Gees’ finest ballad, “How Deep Is Your Love,” is Song of the Week on Classic Pop Icons.

“How Deep Is Your Love” was released on single in October 1977, backed with the live track “Can’t Keep A Good Man Down,” and it also appeared on the massively successful soundtrack to the movie “Saturday Night Fever.”
