The Who announce super deluxe edition of “Tommy”

Written by admin on September 1, 2013 – 4:08 pm -

The Who’s rock opera “Tommy” will be released in deluxe and super deluxe editions in November.

The original album, released in May 1969, has sold over 20 million copies and has established a deserved reputation as one of the most influential albums of all time.

The super deluxe versions of the album will contain a wealth of previously unheard material, including 20 demos from Pete Townshend’s archive and 21 live tracks. The live songs comprise 18 from a show at the Capital Theatre, Ottawa, Canada on October 15, 1969 and three (“I’m Free,” “Tommy’s Holiday Camp,” and “We’re Not Gonna Take It”) from later shows in that period.

Fans have sound mad Bob Pridden to thank for the haul of rarities, as he ignored Pete Townshend’s instructions to destroy the material.
