Rod Stewart - TimeRod Stewart has showcased his new album “Time” during a 10-song special gig at LA’s Troubadour.

“Time” is Stewart’s first album of original rock material for many years and also marks his return to songwriting, with 11 of the 12 tracks written by the singer. The Troubadour gig includes six of those new tracks and a handful of classics.

Preview tracks from Rod Stewart’s “Time”

Rod Stewart’s eagerly anticipated new album of original rock material is out in May and you can now preview samples of the tracks via the video below.

Rod Stewart - TimeStewart has spent much of the last two decades recording albums of other people’s material, including a highly successful foray into the Great American Songbook. “Time” sees Stewart return to rock and to songwriting, with 11 of the 12 songs penned by the veteran rocker. This is the first time that Stewart has made a significant songwriting contribution to an album since 1991’s “Vagabond Heart”.

Rod Stewart confirms new rock album

Rod Stewart has told Billboard.com that he will release a new rock album in the spring of 2013, tentatively titled “Love the Life You Live”. It will be his first rock album since 2001’s “Human”.

Stewart told Billboard:

“It’s all done mate. I produced it myself. It’s all finished, mixed, everything…. Just a good, old-fashioned Rod Stewart album [with] a lot of mandolin and acoustic [guitar] and fiddles and good storytelling, I believe, too.”
