The 2011 Grammy Hall of Fame inductees

The Beatles, Fats Domino, Otis Redding and Joan Baez are among the artists whose recordings will be entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2011.

The Grammy Hall of Fame Award was established by The Recording Academy’s National Trustees in 1973. The aim was to “honor recordings of lasting qualitative or historical significance that are at least 25 years old.” To date, 881 recordings have been inducted.

Ray Charles Memorial Library opens today

The Ray Charles Memorial Library opens today on what would have been the late star’s 80th birthday.

The Library is located on the ground floor of 2107 West Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles, which was the home of Charles’ offices and recording studio. The second floor houses the operations of The Ray Charles Foundation.

Song of the Week #13: “Hallelujah, I Love Her So”

Ray Charles’ rhythm and blues standard “Hallelujah, I Love Her So” is this week’s Song of the Week.

“Hallelujah, I Love Her So” was released in 1956 on Atlantic Records, backed with “What Would I Do Without You,” and was one of a string of R&B hits for Charles before his crossover success at the end of the decade.
