Future uncertain for The Who
Written by admin on February 23, 2010 – 11:37 am -Pete Townsend has told Rolling Stone that The Who may have to stop performing live due to his returning tinnitus.
| The Who had planned a sping 2010 tour and some festival appearances, but cancelled these when Townsend’s tinnitus returned while he was working on his musical ‘Floss.’ Townsend told Rolling Stone: “If my hearing is going to be a problem, we’re not delaying shows. We’re finished. I can’t really see any way around the issue.” |
The Who will perform a charity gig on March 30th in London where they will play Quadrophenia in its entirety. Townsend will be using an in-ear monitor at the gig, which is designed to prevent any further damage. If the device does not help, it could be the last gig the band plays.
The news comes just weeks after The Who played the Super Bowl halftime show, which was watched by 150 million viewers.

The Who halftime Super Bowl show
Written by admin on February 8, 2010 – 12:17 am -The Who rocked the Sun Life Stadium last night with their 12-minute Super Bowl halftime concert.
Singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townshend, accompanied by their backing band, played solid versions of “Pinball Wizard,” “Baba O’Riley,” “Who Are You?,” “See Me, Feel Me” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” Zak Starkey, son of Beatle Ringo Starr, was on drums.
Before we get on to the concert itself, here’s video of the band’s interview and impromptu song at the Super Bowl 44 Press Conference.

The concert itself has received mixed reviews. Clearly, Roger Daltrey has lost some notes off the top of his register and Pete Townsend isn’t quite as dynamic as he used to be, but this was a solid set delivered under unusual circumstances. Enjoy The Who at the Super Bowl below
