Song of the Week #5 – “That’s All Right”
Written by admin on June 7, 2010 – 6:01 am -| Elvis Presley’s very first single, “That’s All Right,” is this week’s song of the week.
This is one of the most important songs ever recorded. Nineteen-year-old Elvis Presley, with sidemen Scotty Moore (guitar) and Bill Black (bass), were on a break during a studio session when they began improvising on an old blues song by Arthur Crudup. Producer Sam Phillips was amazed by what he heard and asked them to back up and try it again. The result was a new and unique sound which became known as rockabilly. |

Million Dollar Quartet names New York cast
Written by admin on February 1, 2010 – 10:01 am -The Million Dollar Quartet stage show is transferring to Broadway and the New York Times has reported that it will retain the same cast as the Chicago production.
The show is inspired by the 1956 session at Sun studios in Memphis when Elvis Presley visited his former label and jammed with Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash. There’s some debate over whether Cash was involved in the session, as he doesn’t seem to appear anywhere on the tapes, but he was definitely in attendance as he features in the photos taken on the day. That said, the musical aims to entertain and doesn’t claim to be historically accurate.
