The first trailer for the James Brown biopic “Get On Up” has been posted online.

Chadwick Boseman stars as the Godfather of Soul in “Get On Up,” fresh from his starring role as Jackie Robinson in “42”. The movie is directed by Tate Taylor, whose past credits include “The Help” and “Pretty Ugly People”.

“An American Trilogy” – Elvis Presley

Elvis took Mickey Newbury’s medley of American songs and made it his own in February 1972. Eleven months later, he performed the song on his worldwide television broadcast, “Aloha From Hawaii”.

Jagger to co-produce James Brown biopic

Mick Jagger and Brian Grazer are to co-produce a James Brown biopic, with Tate Taylor in the frame to direct.

The movie has been in the works for years, with Grazer at the helm and James Brown himself involved before his death in 2006. The screenplay by Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth charts Brown’s journey from poverty to worldwide fame.

James Brown’s 1966 hit “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” is Song of the Week on Classic Pop Icons.

“It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” was released on single in April 1966, backed with “Is It Yes or Is It No?” The song was also the title track of an album released in August 1966.
