Rush receive star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Canadian rock band Rush received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last Friday. Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee were in attendance to accept the honour and tributes were paid by Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan, among others.

Corgan said:

“If you would’ve told me in the basement of Glendale Heights, Illinois in 1975 that I would be standing with these guys, I think my head would’ve exploded. I’ve been in this business for about 20 years now, and let me tell you, thee guys are the best of the best. They represent the values that the fans will listen, and will care.”

There’s more good news for Rush fans, with the release today of the acclaimed documentary “Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage” on DVD and Blu-ray. The film tells the story of the Canadian trio’s 40 year career, from their early days in Toronto, through each of their albums and up to the present day.

Ringo Starr receives Hollywood Walk of Fame Star – Feb 8, 2010

On the forthcoming tour, Ringo will be playing tracks from his fifteenth studio album, Y Not, which was released last month. The first single from the album, “Walk With You”, released 22 December 2009, featured shared vocals with fellow former Beatle Paul McCartney. Y Not also includes collaborations with Joe Walsh, Joss Stone, Van Dyke Parks, Ben Harper and Richard Marx.

Ringo Starr gets Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Ringo Starr will become the final Beatle to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony tonight. The Star is located at 1750 N. Vine Street in front of the historic Capitol Records Building.

Ringo receives his Star on the 50th anniversary of the day construction first began on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His will be the 2,401st Star.

Harrison gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

George Harrison, who passed away in 2001, has been posthumously recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Stars who joined Harrison’s widow, Olivia, and their son, Dhani, at the ceremony on April 14 included Paul McCartney, Tom Hanks, Tom Petty, Eric Idle, Jeff Lynne, Joe Walsh, and T-Bone Burnett.

Coinciding with the ceremony, Capitol-EMI Records announced that a new compilation of Harrison’s post-Beatles recordings will be released June 16. ‘Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison’ will include solo work as well as three of his Beatles songs – ‘Something’, ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ and ‘Here Comes the Sun.’
