Nominations for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards were announced on Friday night on a CBS television special that aired live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Jay Z tops the nominations with nine; Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake, and Pharrell Williams each have seven; and Drake and mastering engineer Bob Ludwig are up for five.

55th Annual GRAMMY Awards – Nominations round-up

Nominations for the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards were announced last night on a CBS television special that aired live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Leading the nominations, with six each, were The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, Fun., Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean, and Kanye West. The Black Keys, Chick Corea and Miguel each received five nominations.

The Who join GRAMMY nominations show line-up

The Who have been added to the line-up of “The GRAMMY® Nominations Concert Live!! – Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night®,” which takes place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., on Wednesday, December 5.

The concert special marks the fifth time nominations for the annual GRAMMY Awards® will be announced live on primetime television.

The line-up for the show also includes country music singer/songwriter Hunter Hayes, The Band Perry and Dierks Bentley in a special tribute to Johnny Cash, Luke Bryan, FUN., three-time GRAMMY-winning group Maroon 5, and three-time GRAMMY winner Ne-Yol. The hour-long special will be hosted by two-time GRAMMY winner LL COOL J and six-time GRAMMY winner Taylor Swift.

The hour-long telecast will be broadcast live in HDTV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 10–11 p.m. ET/PT (9 p.m. Central). Those in attendance at the Bridgestone Arena will then witness a one-hour concert by Maroon 5. Tickets for “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! – Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night” are available now via ticketmaster.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 10, 2013, and will be broadcast live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Five Grammy nominations for Jeff Beck

Jeff Beck leads the charge for the elder statesmen of rock with five nominations for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, including four associated with his album “Emotion & Commotion.” Beck achieved his best ever UK chart placing with the album earlier this year and his highest US chart position since “Blow by Blow” in 1975.
