Stars who joined Harrison’s widow, Olivia, and their son, Dhani, at the ceremony on April 14 included Paul McCartney, Tom Hanks, Tom Petty, Eric Idle, Jeff Lynne, Joe Walsh, and T-Bone Burnett.

Coinciding with the ceremony, Capitol-EMI Records announced that a new compilation of Harrison’s post-Beatles recordings will be released June 16. ‘Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison’ will include solo work as well as three of his Beatles songs - ‘Something’, ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ and ‘Here Comes the Sun.’

While often labelled the ‘quiet Beatle’, George played a vital role in the development of the band’s sound and was an integral part of their success. Although clearly overshadowed on the songwriting front by Lennon and McCartney, George did pen a number of classic songs in this period, including Here Comes the Sun, Something and While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
