Songwriter Hall of Fame nominees announced

Pete Townshend, Elvis Costello, Lou Reed and Dion DiMucci are among the artists who have been nominated for induction into the 2012 Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Members will have until December 12 to vote for which of the nominees are inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The nominees are listed below, along with some examples of their biggest songs:
