Ronnie Wood wants Rolling Stones to headline Glastonbury

Ronnie Wood has said that he hopes to play Glastonbury this summer with the Rolling Stones.

The Rolling Stones have never played the UK’s largest festival, but there has been speculation that they will do so in 2013 ever since they announced their 2012 comeback gigs in London and New York.

Wood told The Independent:

“We’ve got a meeting next month and that’s going to be my first question to them. It’s something I’ve always been interested in. I’m going to twist their arms. I’ve got lots of high hopes this year, now that we’re all rehearsed – let’s get it cracking this summer!”

The decision likely rests with Mick Jagger, who has himself hinted at the possibility recently.

This year’s Glastonbury will be seen by more people than ever as for the first time the BBC will offer simultaneous live streams from the main stages.
