“Released: The Human Rights Concerts 1986-1998” – Six DVD box set

Amnesty International has released a six-DVD box set of material from its Human Rights concerts of 1986-1998, featuring performances by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, U2, Lou Reed, Sting, Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, Joni Mitchell, and many more.

The set features nearly 17 hours of content, comprising over 12 hours of footage from four concerts, and close to five hours of bonus content.

Released: The Human Rights Concerts 1986-1998

The first of Amnesty’s Human Rights Concerts was “A Conspiracy Of Hope” in 1986, which was a 25th anniversary US concert tour. Next up was the “Human Rights Now!” five-continent 20-concert tour in 1988. This was followed by the standalone concerts “An Embrace Of Hope” in Chile (1990) and “The Struggle Continues…” in Paris (1998).

The six DVDs feature:

  • Disc One – “A Conspiracy Of Hope – Part One” (1986) (145 mins approx)
  • Disc Two – “A Conspiracy Of Hope – Part Two” (1986) (163 mins approx)
  • Disc Three – “Human Rights Now!” (1988) (182 mins approx)
  • Disc Four – “An Embrace Of Hope” (1990) (73 mins approx) and “Companion Material: Context On The Human Rights Concerts – Part One” (126 mins approx)
  • Disc Five – “The Struggle Continues…” (1998) (147 mins approx)
  • Disc Six – “Companion Material: Context On The Human Rights Concerts – Part Two (152 mins approx).

The “Companion Material” includes:

  • a documentary about the concert series featuring new interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Bono, Peter Gabriel, Pete Townshend and more
  • a new 20-minute interview with Bruce Springsteen
  • a new 20-minute interview with Sting
  • Peter Gabriel’s home movies of the 1986 tour, including an all-star late night jam
  • additional stage and studio performances for Amnesty (1979-2012) by Bono, Jeff Beck, David Byrne, Coldplay, Green Day, Mumford & Sons, Ozzy Osbourne, Joe Perry, Damien Rice, Seal, Pete Seeger, Sting & The Secret Police, Pete Townshend, John Williams and Evan Rachel Wood.

Amnesty have also released the two-CD collection “Released:The Human Rights Concerts 1986-1998” which features highlights from the shows from the concert series.
