Previously unseen footage of Elvis at Madison Square Garden

A brief clip of Elvis performing “Suspicious Minds” at Madison Square Garden has heightened anticipation for the forthcoming “Elvis – Prince From Another Planet” 2CD/DVD box set.

Rolling Stone posted a preview of the previously unseen amateur footage taken during Elvis’ afternoon performance of June 10, 1972. The complete footage runs around 20 minutes and it will be a big selling point for “Elvis – Prince From Another Planet,” which also includes remixed/remastered editions of the afternoon and evening shows, and footage of the press conference given to promote the gigs.

Elvis fans have always craved good quality footage of Elvis at the Garden, but this is the first time that anything of this quality has surfaced. Given the amateur source, it will exceed most people’s expectations.

The evening show was originally released within days of the live show in 1972 as “Elvis: As Recorded At Madison Square Garden” and the afternoon show was first released in 1997 as “An Afternoon in the Garden.” A sound upgrade for both is welcome.

The shows will also be released by Sony Legacy on a 2-CD Legacy Edition of “Elvis: As Recorded At Madison Square Garden,” which will be remastered but retain the original mix.

Both titles are available to pre-order now.
