Bob Dylan will unveil new paintings in an exhibition at the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen next month.

The 40 acrylic paintings and eight drawings from Dylan’s “Brazil Series” were created specifically for the Danish museum and will be on display from September 4, 2010 to January 30, 2011.

The artwork shows “scenes from daily life in the cities, the slums and the countryside in Brazil,” according to the museum’s curator and director, Kaspar Monrad. This includes depictions of wine growers, gypsies, politicians, gamblers and gangsters.

Dyan received an invitation to paint works for the gallery at the end of 2008 and he worked on the collection throughout 2009 and during the first half of 2010. He has called the experience a “thrilling challenge.”

This is not the first time Dylan has had his work exhibited in Europe. His “Drawn Blank Series” was displayed in Germany in 2007 and in Britain the following year. The Halycon Gallery in London also presented the “Bob Dylan on Canvas” exhibition earlier this year.
