MTV Global Icon Award for Queen
Written by admin on October 19, 2011 – 7:09 pm -| The rock band Queen will be be honoured with the Global Icon Award at the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) next month.
The band will accept the award in person and also take to the stage for a special performance. |

This is the latest in a long line of awards and accomplishments for Queen since forming in 1971, including induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and global album sales of around 300 million.
Queen’s guitarist, Brian May, has welcomed the recognition from MTV:

Bruce Gillmer, Executive Vice President of Talent and Music Programming/Events for Viacom International Media Networks, said:

The 2011 MTV EMA will air on Sunday, November 6th from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Selena Gomez will host the show and other performers scheduled to appear include Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Snow Patrol and Jason Derulo.
November 23rd marks the 20th anniversary of Freddie Mercury’s untimely death.
