Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson, Martha and the Vandellas, and Donovan were among the veteran artists to be recognised at the Glenfiddich Mojo Awards tonight.

The ceremony took place at the Brewery in east London.

Ringo was awarded the Icon award and took the opportunity to deny rumours that he would be reuniting with Paul McCartney at next year’s Olympic opening ceremony. Starr said that he would be touring in the US at the time.

Brian Wilson was inducted into the Mojo Hall of Fame and flew in especially for the occasion. Wilson told the crowd:

“I’d like to thank England for being so supportive of me throughout my career. God only knows where I’d be without you.”

Donovan received the Maverick Award and Garm Numan received the Inspiration Award.

Martha and the Vandellas were recognised with the Merit Award and guitarist Steve Cropper was a deserved winner of the Les Paul Award.
