Elvis Presley became the first artist to achieve 50 Top Ten hits on the UK albums chart when “The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Songs” debuted at number seven yesterday.

The album is the soundtrack to the ITV1 television show of the same name which was broadcast on Friday night and attracted more than four million viewers. There is also a deluxe version of the album featuring a bonus disc of hits.

Elvis holds many other UK chart records, including the most number one singles (21), the most number one albums by a male artist (11), the most consecutive weeks at number one on the album chart (17, with “Blue Hawaii” in 1961), the solo artist with the most weeks at number one on the album chart (63), and the longest span of number one albums (50 years and nine days).
