Baby It's You musical Dionne Warwick is suing the producers of the “Baby It’s You!” musical for allegedly using her as a character without obtaining permission.

The musical tells the story of Scepter Records founder, Florence Greenburg, who discoved The Shirelles and later signed Warwick to the label.

The case is also being brought by Chuck Jackson, Shirelles singer Beverly Lee, and the estates of the late Shirelles’ members Doris Coley and Addie Harris.

Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and Broadway Baby LLC are accused of “cashing in on plaintiffs’ stories and successes, while using plaintiffs’ names, likenesses and biographical information without their consent and in violation of the law.”

“Baby It’s You!” opened last night on Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre, following previews from March 26. Florence Greenberg is played by Tony Award winner Beth Leavel. The well-received show is packed with many 1960s pop classics, including “Dedicated To The One I Love,” “Duke Of Earl,” “He’s So Fine,” “Soldier Boy,” “I Say A Little Prayer,” “It’s My Party,” “Mama Said,” “Shout,” “Louie Louie,” “Rockin’ Robin,” “Twist and Shout” and many more.

The original cast recording of “Baby It’s You!” will be released by Universal Music Group’s Verve label on June 14. Click here to pre-order.
