Chuck Berry health scare in Chicago

Written by admin on January 2, 2011 – 9:43 pm -

Best wishes go out to Chuck Berry who fell ill during a gig in Chicago last night.

The 84-year-old rock ‘n’ roller was performing at Chicago’s Congress Theatre when he slumped over a keyboard an hour into the show. He received medical attention and was back on stage within 15 minutes, but soon left the stage again as he felt too weak to continue the show.

Chuck’s representatives have said that the episode was caused by exhaustion and that he is now at home in St Louis and doing fine. Staff at the Hard Rock Hotel in Chicago, where Chuck was staying, have also said that they saw him this morning and he was looking good.

The next scheduled Chuck Berry gig is at Blueberry Hill’s Duck Room in Saint Louis on Wednesday, January 19. Chuck plays Blueberry Hill at least once a month.
